Why SRH Star Nitish Reddy Agreed For A Big Pay-Cut For IPL 2025?

On Saturday, December 28, 21-year-old Nitish Reddy announced himself in style as he smashed his maiden international century. It was an emotional day for the youngster as he took the responsibility on his shoulders. 

Reddy To Earn 6 Crores For IPL 2025

Reddy pulled India out of the trouble and now has been the talk of the town. This knock has certainly raised Reddy's market value and will be a player to watch out for in the upcoming IPL season. Talking about IPL 2025, Reddy will featured for SRH and will be taking home just a small salary of 6 crores. 

In present times, a salary of 6 crore is too low for Indian international cricketers. It is worth noting that SRH announced five retentions for IPL 2025, but did not follow the set price bracket of BCCI. Reddy, who had already made his India debut by the last date to announce IPL 2025 retentions, was set to take 11 crores but took a pay cut.

Reddy Took A Pay-Cut Because Of Heinrich Klaasen

It is worth noting that the management had their eyes on Heinrich Klaasen, as the South African was their first priority for retention. Notably, SRH went overboard to retain Klaasen's services and paid him 23 crores, five more than the standard BCCI pay structure.

Thus, to compensate and balance out the purse value, the SRH management had to ask Reddy to take a five crore pay cut. For IPL 2024, he just earned 20 lakhs. Further, Reddy had a solid IPL 2024 as he also won IPL's emerging player of the season award after scoring 303 runs and taking 3 wickets.
