Babar Azam started off the innings with a brilliant boundary off his first delivery, but his hurrah was short-lived as the former Test skipper went back to the pavilion after scoring just 4 runs off 11 deliveries in Centurion.
He was given a freebie on his very first delivery as he clipped it off his pads for a boundary, but Babar couldn't continue the good work as his horror show in Tests continue. The star batter was dropped from the Test squad after a lean patch and he made his return in this game against the South African side.
A lot was expected off him after a stellar ODI series, but Babar failed to deliver the goods and Dane Paterson had the last laugh as he took his wicket. Paterson bowled a length ball outside the off as Babar went fishing at it and the outside-edge was safely taken by Markram at second slips.
The wicket reminded fans of Virat Kohli who constantly fetches deliveries outside the off and has been troubled by the Aussie pacers in India's tour Down Under. Babar, just like Kohli, unnecessary went after the ball and was dismissed.
Pakistan lose a flurry of wicket
Pakistan were off to a sedate start with Saim Ayub and Shan Masood adding 36 runs for the first wicket. However, they lost the momentum as the Proteas pacer ran riot.
Debutant Corbin Bosch started off with a wicket off his very first ball in Test cricket, and then Dane Paterson scalped the big fishes in Babar Azam and Saim Ayub.
Saud Shakeel looked to be aggressive and smacked three boundaries before Bosch returned back to trap him for 14.
