Prominent Indian batter Shubman Gill couldn't live up to the hype in India A's ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024 encounter against India B at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Despite getting a steady start to his innings, Gill failed to convert it into a significant score, being castled by Navdeep Saini.

The incident occurred during the 14th over of India A's innings when their opponents were desperately searching for a breakthrough. India B skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran's decision to bring Navdeep Saini for a short spell worked wonders, as the experienced pacer castled Shubman Gill with a beauty.

Saini didn't have a great start to the over, as Mayank Agarwal collected five runs, including a boundary, off his first four deliveries. Things worsened for the Delhi seamer when Gill dispatched his penultimate ball for another four.

However, he bounced back remarkably, getting the prized scalp of India's new white-ball vice-captain with an absolute peach. From over the wicket, Saini bowled a good length delivery that jagged back into Gill after pitching outside the off stump.

The Punjab batter failed to judge the extent of movement, as he bizarrely left the ball, expecting it to go straight to the wicket-keeper. However, contrary to his expectations, the ball moved off the pitch and shattered his off stump. Thus, Gill had to make a long walk back to the pavilion with disappointment on his face.

Musheer Khan's sensational knock bails India B out of trouble

Batting first, India B posted a respectable total of 321 runs, thanks to a commendable rescue act from Musheer Khan. After India A reduced the B team to 94 for seven, Musheer formed a mammoth 205-run stand for the eighth wicket with Navdeep Saini.

While the speedster contributed 56 runs, Musheer hammered sixteen fours and five sixes for a memorable 373-ball 181 before Kuldeep Yadav dismissed him. As of writing, India A were 66 for one, with Mayank Agarwal and Riyan Parag batting on 36* and 4*, respectively.
