Spinner, Shoaib Bashir has been a revelation for the England team in the last couple of months. Having made his Test debut on the india tour, Bashir has honed his skills with each passing game.

Bashir weaves his magic to stun Prabath Jayasuriya

A talented spinner who was scouted by Ben Stokes, Bashir was pivotal in England's success against West Indies in the recently concluded Tests, and continue the magic in the second Test match at Lord's against the Sri Lankan batters.

The surface at Lord's doesn't offer much turn, but the youngster showed his class and deceived Sri Lanka's Prabath Jayasuriya with a well-crafted googly to knock his stumps.

Sri Lanka were already struggling and the icing on the cake was provided by Bashir, who pitched a good length ball outside the off and Jayasuriya decided to step down the track to counter the bowler. However, the ball took a sharp turn and beat the inside-edge to castle the stumps.

While Bashir was elated after the wicket, Jayasuriya was stunned, as he didn't expect the ball to turn this much on Day 2.

England dominate proceedings on Day 2

The day started with fast bowler Gus Atkinson bringing up his maiden Test century with a boundary. Batting at number 8, he crafted a well-deserved ton to stun the Sri Lanan bowler.

In the process, he became just the 6th player to score a century at number 8 or below at the Lord's Stadium.

With the ball, everyone chipped in with wickets. However, the outstanding bowler was Matthew Potts, who took wickets of Angelo Mathews and Dhananjaya de Silva to turn the tides in England's favour.

At the moment, Sri Lanka are struggling at 176/8, still needing 51 more runs to avoid the follow-on.
