Matthew Potts bowled a dream delivery to knock over Sri Lanka's Angelo Mathews in the ongoing 2nd Test at the Lord's Stadium.

After an early hiccup against a rampant England attack, Sri Lanka needed someone to stabilise the innings, and Mathews was the person to do that. He played with caution and looked in ominous touch against the England bowlers.

Potts puts an end to Mathews' resistance

He shared a brief partnership with Dinesh Chandimal, as Sri Lanka slowly crawled back in the contest. The hosts needed to break the partnership, and Potts was the man to do it. Coming over the wicket, he bowled a length ball which nipped back in and swayed away at the last moment to knock the stumps.

Mathews was deceived by the delivery as he was playing for the in-swinger, but the ball moved away to beat the outside-edge. This was not the end of Potts' terror as he struck once again, this time dismissing Dhananjaya de Silva for a 3-ball duck.

The Sri Lankan skipper played for the in-swinger, just like Mathews, but got an outside-edge straight into the hands of the slip cordon.

Day 2 belonged to centurion Gus Atkinson

The first session on Day 2 certainly belonged to Gus Atkinson. The English bowler came out of syllabus for the Sri Lankan bowlers and slammed a majestic hundred to propel England to a commanding 427 on the board.

He belted 14 fours and 4 sixes as the Lankan bowlers looked toothless in front of him. The fast bowler also etched his name on the Lord's honours board, something which he'll cherish forever.
