In a dominating display of sublime batting prowess, Saud Shakeel of Quetta Gladiators slammed two towering sixes off Peshawar Zalmi's speedster Naveen-ul-Haq to kick off the chase on a flying note for his side.

In another enthralling encounter of the PSL 2024 season, Quetta Gladiators were up against Babar Azam's Peshawar Zalmi.

The latter batted first and put up a formidable total of 196 runs on the board courtesy of Babar's commanding half-century and Saim Ayub's quick and impactful cameo.

However, on Pindi's flat deck, Quetta Gladiators believed that they had a chance. To ensure the team is off to a flyer start in the chase, Saud Shakeel and explosive English batter Jason Roy walked out to open.

While Roy struggled, Shakeel took the responsibility to lead the chase on his shoulders. To rattle Peshawar Zalmi, he targeted their best bowler, Naveen-ul-Haq.

To maximize the field restrictions, Saud Shakeel scooped a boundary to the fine leg for four. Naveen was on the back foot, and Shakeel further struck him with two mammoth sixes.

The Afghanistan pacer bowled the fourth delivery of the over onto the pads of Saud, who timed his pick-up shot to perfection to smoke a six over the deep mid-wicket boundary.

In the very next ball, Shakeel once again displayed his supreme timing. He whipped an angled-in delivery from Naveen over the deep square leg boundary for another massive maximum.

With that, Naveen-ul-Haq conceded 17 runs in the over, 16 of which were scored by Saud Shakeel alone.

However, the job is far from done for Quetta Gladiators. Shortly after the end of the Powerplay, Zalmi tightened the leash and triggered a top-order collapse. With the required run rate soaring, somebody has to produce something extraordinary to ensure the Gladiators stay alive in the PSL 2024 season's playoff race.
