In the ongoing pink-ball warm-up match between India and Australia PM XI in Canberra, India skipper Rohit Sharma made his first appearance with the bat as he skipped the first Test because of the birth of his second child. The hitman walked to bat when India were 81/1 while chasing a target of 241 runs.
Rohit's return to Australia ended in disappointment as he scored just 3 (11). Eyes were on the hitman to score big and seal a win for India, but he didn't look comfortable playing the pink ball from the first delivery.
Rohit Sharma Troubled By Swinging Delivery
On the 3rd ball of the 21st over, Rohit tried to play a ball moving away from his body, but produced a thick outside edge, and the slip fielder made no mistake. It was a simple dismissal.
Rohit Sharma Reminded Of Ghosts Of Infamous 36-All Out In Pink Ball Test
It is worth noting that the upcoming Adelaide Test will be a day-night match, and the last time India played a pink-ball match in Australia, they collapsed for the infamous 36.
However, Rohit was not a part of that playing XI, but it is to be seen how he will perform in the upcoming pink ball Test. Interestingly, Rohit didn't open the innings for India and rather came to bat at No.4.
Talking about the ongoing match, at the time of writing this article, India are 122/2. The positives are that Harshit Rana is in great form with the ball and Yashasvi Jaiswal too is hitting boundaries similar to what he did in Perth. Further, Shubman Gill has returned as well following a thumb injury he sustained in preparations for BGT.
