Finger Injury Jeopardises Shubman Gill's Participation In Perth Test: Report

Meanwhile, the visitors have suffered a huge setback before the opening encounter in Perth, with their premier batter Shubman Gill developing a finger injury. According to a reliable source, the cricketer hurt his finger while taking a catch during the intra-squad match simulation.

The Indian players engaged in an intra-squad practice to acclimatise to the Australian conditions before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However, the practice game turned out to be a nightmare for the visitors, with several key players sustaining blows and getting injury scares before the Perth Test.

While KL Rahul was hit on his elbow, Sarfaraz Khan sustained a similar injury before being declared fit. In fact, the team's fittest player Virat Kohli underwent scans for an unspecified injury. In such a scenario, Gill's injury report comes as a concerning development for the Indian cricket fanatics, who want their star-studded first-choice to face the mighty Aussies.

Rohit Sharma Likely To Play Perth Test

However, amid the potential injury concerns, Indian captain Rohit Sharma's comeback rumour comes as a huge sign of relief for the visiting side. The legendary batter has embraced fatherhood and will likely join his teammates before the first Test in Perth. If he plays the game, India will slot either KL Rahul or Dhruv Jurel in their middle order.
