In the ongoing 2nd ODI between India and Sri Lanka at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, as expected, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has opted to bowl a few overs. The hitman rolled his arms in the 39th over.

In his first over, Sharma conceded just six runs. There were hints that Rohit might bowl in the ongoing ODI as he was seen practising his bowling in the nets ahead of the 2nd ODI.

Gautam Gambhir's era as India's head coach has started on a high, as India won the T20I series against Sri Lanka 3-0, and the Men in Blue are yet to lose a game under Gambhir's guidance.

One thing that has been made quite evident by Gambhir and his management is that they want the batters to chip in a few overs when needed.

As seen in the T20I series, Suryakumar Yadav and Rinku Singh bowled the crucial last two overs of the 3rd T20I. In fact, in the first ODI, Shubman Gill was given an over. However, the move backfired for India, as he conceded 14 runs, which turned out to be the turning point.

Meanwhile, India skipper Rohit Sharma too rolled his arms in the nets ahead of the Sri Lanka game, hinting that he too might bowl a few overs.

The last time Rohit tried his hand at bowling was against the Netherlands in the 2023 World Cup.
