Bangladesh's legendary batter Mushfiqur Rahim narrowly missed a well-deserved double hundred as Pakistan's ace speedster Mohammad Ali dismissed him in the ongoing Test between the two sides at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Rahim, who played a pivotal role in Bangladesh's tremendous fightback, departed for 191 runs against the run of play when he looked all set for a scintillating double ton.

The incident occurred during the 157th over of Bangladesh's innings when they had already gone past Pakistan's first innings total of 448/6.

As Rahim continued to frustrate Pakistan with a mammoth seventh wicket stand with Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Shan Masood handed the ball to Mohammad Ali, hoping for a miracle.

His tactical move paid rich dividends, with the right-arm pacer dismissing Rahim with a good delivery.

From over the wicket, Mohammad Ali hit the ideal length, bringing the ball slightly back into Rahim from wide outside the off stump.

As the Bangladesh batter went for a risky drive through the square, he couldn't get on top of the bounce, edging the ball behind the stumps.

Pakistan's wicket-keeper, Mohammad Rizwan, did no mistake, as he completed a simple catch and celebrated intensely following the dismissal.

Bangladesh post a towering total in Rawalpindi Test

Meanwhile, Bangladesh have posted a huge 565-run total in the Rawalpindi Test against Pakistan, thanks to an exceptional knock from Rahim and useful contributions from Shadman Islam, Mominul Haque, Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan.

So, they have secured a commanding 117-run lead and are expected to give the hosts a run for their money with the ball in the second innings.
