Rishabh Pant's attempt to stabilize the innings after the early loss of Rohit Sharma fell short, as he departed for a two-ball duck in the T20 World Cup 2024 finals at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 29.

India, having won the toss and opting to bat first, faced an early setback as Keshav Maharaj struck gold for South Africa.

The Proteas spinner removed Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant in the same over, delivering a blow to India's hopes of a strong start.

The double-wicket over unfolded in the 2nd over of the match. On the sixth ball, Maharaj bowled a full delivery on the stumps, which Pant attempted to sweep.

The shot resulted in a top edge, and wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock comfortably pouched the catch, sending Pant back for a silver duck.

At the time of writing, India are struggling at 32 for 2 in 4 overs, with Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli at the crease. The pair is working to rebuild the innings and regain momentum after the early dismissals.

The early strikes by Maharaj have given South Africa a significant advantage in this high-stakes final.
