Ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 final, India's iconic opening duo, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, were seen putting in the hard yards in the nets. 

Team India is set to face South Africa at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, and the stakes are high as this could be the last T20 World Cup for both seasoned campaigners.

In a video shared by Star Sports on X, Kohli and Sharma appeared in fine form, diligently practicing their strokes. However, the tournament has been a tale of contrasting fortunes for the two stalwarts. 

Kohli, once a consistent run machine, has faced severe criticism for his poor form, scoring just 75 runs in seven innings, including two ducks. In stark contrast, Sharma has proved his mettle, amassing 248 runs and leading from the front as captain.

Former cricketer Mohammed Kaif, featured in the video, praised the opening duo and expressed confidence in their ability to dominate against Proteas. With both players in the twilight of their careers, this tournament could mark their final appearance in the T20 World Cup.

India stands on the brink of ending an 11-year ICC trophy drought. The last triumph came in 2013 when MS Dhoni led a young team to the Champions Trophy title. Of that victorious squad, only three players—Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja—remain in the current lineup.
