Team India, who declared its first innings at 603 for the loss of six wickets, were having a near-perfect day in the one-off Test against South African women. However, Sune Luus and Marizanne Kapp had different plans as they declined to kneel against the hosts at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday.

South African all-rounder Sune Luus was all praise for the Indian off-spinners for having bowled beautifully, which included Sneh Rana and Deepti Sharma (1-41).

"The two (Indian) off-spinners bowled exceptionally well today. They were hitting the spots, and we didn't know whether to go back or forward or stay put," she realised.

When asked about her 93-run partnership with Marizanne Kapp and the discussions, Sune Luus conceded that she had complete faith in the latter's ability and current form.

"But, (Marizanne) Kapp and I discussed that we just need to build a partnership. Our best chance was to stay out there as long as we could.

"Kapp has quite some experience in Tests and has a lot of runs under her belt. I had full confidence in her. But also, we needed to be patient as no bowler would keep hitting the spot every single time," she added.

Earlier on Day 2 of one-off Test match, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led India amassed a total of 603/6 - which is the biggest total smashed by any women's side.

However, the Proteas women fought back tremendously, thanks to efforts from Luus and Kapp as the South Africans raced to 236-4 after 72 overs at the end of Day 2.
