Indian captain Rohit Sharma stands on the cusp of a historic achievement, poised to surpass Virat Kohli as the highest run-scorer in T20 World Cup history.

Needing just six runs to etch his name in the record books, Rohit is set to seize this milestone during India's clash with South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 Final at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 29.

Virat Kohli currently holds the prestigious record with 1,216 runs in T20 World Cups. Rohit Sharma, with 1,211 runs, is just a boundary away from overtaking his compatriot.

His impressive tally includes 12 half-centuries, underscoring his consistency and dominance in the shortest format of the game.

In the ongoing tournament, Rohit has been in sublime form, accumulating 248 runs in seven innings, including two fifties, making him the third-highest run-scorer of the competition.

Rohit Sharma's captaincy has seen India reach three ICC finals. However, the team has endured heartache, with losses to Australia in the 2023 World Test Championship and ODI World Cup finals.

In his inaugural tournament as captain during the 2022 T20 World Cup, India was defeated by England in the semifinals. The upcoming final in Barbados represents potentially the last chance for Rohit to lead India to an ICC title in this format.
