In the T20 World Cup 2024 final between India and South Africa at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, the Men in Blue won the toss and elected to bat first.

For the last two games against Australia and England, Rohit Sharma failed to win the toss, but luck has favoured the Men in Blue at the right time. The 37-year-old stated that the pitch looks dry which is why they opted to bat first, but there is another reason why winning the toss is good news for the Indian fans.

Notably, the team that has won the toss since 2010 in the T20 World Cup final has gone onto win the trophy. It was only in the 2009 edition, that Sri Lanka, who won the toss, lost the finals. Also, India won the toss in the 2007 T20 World Cup final against Pakistan and won that game.
