On Sunday, September 8, India B registered a 76-runs win over India A in the ongoing Duleep Trophy tournament to move second on the table, only behind India C. The Shubman Gill-led side were ahead in the game after play on day 3, but a poor batting performance translated into an embarrassing defeat.

India B, batting first, put 321 runs on the board and achieved a 90-run lead after India A tumbled for just 231 runs. The Shubman Gill-led side bounced back in the second innings by restricting India A to just 184 runs on the board courtesy of Akash Deep's five-wicket haul.

Chasing a small target of 275 runs, the top-order tumbled like dominos and lost 6 wickets for just 99 runs. However, KL Rahul, who failed with the bat in the first innings, looked promising in the second innings. KL was the top scorer for his side and scored a fifty.

KL amassed 57 (121), which featured seven fours. He had the chance to become a hero in front of his home crowd, but Rishabh Pant's low diving catch ended his promising knock. On the 5th ball of the 40th over, Rahul tried to cut Mukesh Kumar for a boundary, but the faintest of edges ended his innings as Pant made no mistake behind the wicket.

Keepers Shine At Chinnaswamy Stadium

It has been a keepers' show at the Chinnaswamy stadium as Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel shone with the gloves. Pant took some spectacular catches in the match, while Jurel took seven catches in the second innings to equal MS Dhoni's feat for most catches by a wicket-keeper in a single innings of Duleep Trophy 2024.

It is worth noting that the ongoing domestic tournament would also act as a practice arena for players ahead of the hectic red-ball season for the Indian side.
