The excitement at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram reached its peak as Durbar Rajshahi faced Rangpur Riders in the 31st match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25. Known for his ability to deliver in crunch moments, Taskin Ahmed wasted no time in making an impact. He produced a sensational delivery in the very first over, sending Rangpur Riders’ opener, Irfan Sukkur, back to the pavilion for a duck.
Taskin's breakthrough came on the 5th ball of the over. Bowling from around the wicket, he unleashed a fuller-length delivery that pitched just outside the off-stump and tailed in slightly. Sukkur, trying to whip the ball across the line, stepped forward but misjudged the movement. The ball took a big inside edge and crashed onto the stumps, leaving Sukkur stunned and Taskin jubilant.
Yasir Ali’s Blistering Knock Helps Rajshahi Put A Great Score On Board
Earlier in the match, Durbar Rajshahi had a mixed outing with the bat after being put in to bat. The openers, Mohammad Haris and Sabbir Hossain, got the team off to a steady start, scoring 19 and 39 runs respectively. However, both failed to capitalize on their starts and couldn’t convert them into big scores. The innings gained momentum when Anamul Haque and Yasir Ali formed a vital partnership in the middle overs.
The highlight of Rajshahi's innings was Yasir Ali’s blistering knock. He smashed 60 runs off just 32 balls, taking the attack to the Riders' bowlers. However, just when it seemed like Rajshahi would post a massive total, Khushdil Shah turned the game around with a brilliant spell of bowling. He dismissed Yasir Ali and triggered a dramatic collapse.
From a commanding position at 152/3, Rajshahi stumbled, losing six wickets for just 18 runs in the final overs. They eventually finished with a total of 170/9 from their 20 overs.
