India U19 Women beat Sri Lanka U19 Women by 60 runs in the Group A clash of the U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025. The women in blue batted first to put 118 runs on the board. While the total seemed below par, the bowlers pulled off an inspiring effort to bowl Sri Lanka out for mere 58 runs.

India U19 Women batted first and suffered an early blow as Kamalini was dismissed off just 5 runs by Pramudi Methsara. Sanika Chalke, the next batter in, went back on a four-ball duck, leaving India reeling at 17-2. The middle order collapsed, leading to cheap dismissals as India struggled to put partnerships and time was running out.

However, against the odds, Gongadi Trisha stepped up for India to slam a gritty 49 off 44 balls. Her inning included 5 boundaries and a solo six. Moreover, Joshitha’s 14 runs in the death helped India U19 post a decent total of 118 runs on the board at the loss of 9 wickets. For Sri Lanka U19, Methsara, Thilakarathna and Thalagune scalped 2 wickets each.

India U19 Women came out with great intent to defend the low total. Shabnam Shakil dismissed Sumudu Nisansala for a duck before getting rid of Dahami Sanethma for 2 off 7 balls to chip 2 important wickets in quick succession. Owing to back-to-back early blows, Sri Lanka U19 Women collapsed to 9-4 in just 3.2 overs.

The Indian bowling unit were unstoppable as Sri Lanka U19 Women failed to weather their lethal spells. Except for Rashmika Sewwandi, no batter managed to score in double digits as Sri Lanka put just 58 runs on the board at the loss of 9 wickets in the second inning to endure a humiliating 60-run defeat. 

For India, Shakil, Joshitha and Parunika Sisodia picked two wickets each whereas Ayushi Shukla and Vaishnavi Sharma scalped a wicket each. With that victory, India U19 Women have advanced to the top of the table with 6 points, thus maintaining their 3-game winning streak.
