In a gripping showdown at the ongoing India vs England 4th Test in Ranchi, Joe Root showcased his brilliance with a remarkable century, marking his tenth against India. Root's stellar performance propelled England to a commanding score of 353, setting the stage for an intense battle on the pitch.

Amidst the riveting contest, young Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel emerged as a standout player, drawing admiration from the opposition veteran player. Root praised Jurel's resilience, stating,

"Dhruv Jurel is a very talented player. He kept really well and showing a different side to his game here. He is very very talented and as an English cricketer I hope he doesn’t score many runs."

Jurel's innings of 30 not out on Day 2 proved crucial for India, as they battled to reach 219 for 7, still trailing by 134 runs. His partnership with Kuldeep Yadav, who contributed 17 unbeaten runs, provided the much-needed stability for the hosts.

At just 23 years old, Jurel showcased promising talent in only his second Test match. Making his debut in the Rajkot Test, Jurel impressed with a score of 46 runs in his debut innings, marking the highest score by an Indian wicketkeeper on Test debut in 90 years, setting high expectations for his future performances.

Notably, both Root and Jurel shared the field during their stint with the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, indicating a familiarity between the two players beyond international cricket.
