The Women's Premier League (WPL 2024) has witnessed two exciting and gripping clashes. In the tournament's third game, the Gujarat Giants (GUJ-W) will be taking on the defending champions, Mumbai Indians (MUM-W).

Before the game goes live, here is a look at the important player stats, the top captain and vice-captain choices and the players you should avoid in the match's fantasy contests.

GUJ-W vs MUM-W Important Players

  • Beth Mooney (GUJ-W)
  • Sneh Rana (GUJ-W)
  • Hayley Matthews (MUM-W)
  • Natalie Sciver-Brunt (MUM-W)
  • Shabnim Ismail (MUM-W)

GUJ-W vs MUM-W - Toss Factor

The wicket at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium has favoured the batters in general. However, spinners have been effective on the wicket in the middle-overs. Speaking about toss, the dew factor and the ground dimensions makes this a chase-friendly venue. So, the captain winning the toss will be inclined towards fielding first.

Scenario: If Gujarat Giants win the toss

  • On winning the toss Mooney will be looking to field first. In this case, players like Ashleigh Gardner and Sneh Rana will play a big role in where they are able to restrict the defending champions.
  • In the chase a lot will depend on Beth Mooney and Indian batters like, Harleen Deol, Veda Krishnamurthy and once again Ashleigh Gardner. So, this shows us that while there will be some important picks, Gardner might be a very rewarding one.

Scenario: If Mumbai Indians win the toss

  • Mumbai Indians enjoy chasing. If they win the toss their will be no doubt that Harmanpreet Kaur will look to field first.  Shabnim Islami and Saik Ishaque could be very rewarding choices in this scenario.
  • In the chase, a lot will depend on the in-form Yastika Bhatia, and Harmanpreet Kaur. Barring these two Indian batter, Natalie Sciver-Brunt, who failed to go big in the first game will also be an important choice.

Scenario: Gujarat Giants win the match

Beth Mooney (GUJ-W) - The skipper of the Gujarat Giants will be a mainstay of the team's batting effort. Mooney is a steady batter and likes to build the innings and is a pretty consistent run-scorer.

Phoebe Litchfield (GUJ-W) - The young Australian batter has been a revelation in the last year or so. If the Giants manage to win this game it is expected that Litchfield will play a big role.

Scenario: Mumbai Indians win the match

Harmanpreet Kaur (MUM-W)- The Mumbai Indians skipper showed in the last game how much she enjoys chasing a target. Batting at number four, Harmanpreet will play a big role in the team's mechanism.

Natalie Sciver-Brunt (MUM-W)- The English all-rounder can give you points in both innings of the match. She is equally adept with both the bat and the ball. Although she was not in the best of touches with the bat in the last game, a player of Natalie's class won't be off form for too long.

GUJ-W vs MUM-W - High Risk, High Reward

Harleen Deol (GUJ-W): The Indian top-order batter is steady grafter. But the problem with Harleen is her lack of consistency, and that is exactly why she is a risky choice for the game.

Hayley Matthews (MUM-W): The West Indian all-rounder was a game-changer for the Mumbai Indians in the last season. But in the first match of this edition, Matthews failed to delivery with either the bat or the ball. She looked off colours and that is in this section.

GUJ-W vs MUM-W Stay Aways

Dayalan Hemlatha (GUJ-W): The Indian middle-order batters is known for her hard hitting capabilities. However, it would be a choice full of risks if you are keeping Hemlatha in your fantasy XI.

Sathyamoorthy Keertana (MUM-W): The young Indian bowler looked off-colours in the first match. Harmanpreet did not even after use her after a single set of six. She is under confident and it will be better to not include her in the fantasy XIs.
