In the ongoing final T20I against South Africa, India have gained the upper hand with the dismissal of the Proteas captain, Aiden Markram. The right-handed batter was the only batter in the side who seemed comfortable while chasing a daunting target of 202 at Wanderers Stadium.

The skipper was dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja as soon as he was introduced to bowl after the powerplay. Markram attempted to take on a half-tracker delivery but got a top edge. Yashasvi Jaiswal completed the catch under the lights, putting South Africa at 42 for the loss of three wickets. Markram had taken the bowlers to the cleaners in his short stay.

He had three fours and two sixes to his name in the 14 balls faced. In the first match as well, he had 30 runs from 17 deliveries to help the side chase the target set by DLS.

Batting first at Wanderers Stadium, India were not off to a flying start. They struggled with back-to-back dismissals of Shubman Gill and Tilak Verma, finding themselves at 29 for 2. However, Suryakumar Yadav and Yashasvi Jaiswal took the bowlers to the cleaners.

Jaiswal scored 60, whereas the skipper, Suryakumar Yadav, scored a century. When India looked set to score 210+, South Africa came back strongly in the death overs to restrict India to 201 for the loss of seven wickets.

Among the bowlers, Keshav Maharaj and Lizaad Williams picked two wickets each, while Burger and Shamsi picked one each. Keshav Maharaj was particularly impressive, conceding only 26 runs in his quota of four overs.

At the time of writing, South Africa are 94 for the loss of 8 wickets. They need 108 runs at a run rate of 15.80 to seal the series whereas India would want to defend to level 1-1 before heading to the ODI and Test series.
