Suryakumar Yadav unfurled yet another batting masterclass for his side, this time taking South Africa to cleaners in the series-deciding third T20I match in Johannesburg. The stand-in Indian skipper punched out a scorching 100 off just 56 balls, thus lifting his team’s innings after powerplay setbacks towards a colossal 201-7 by the end of their 20 overs.

Suryakumar belted seven boundaries and eight towering sixes during the course of his run-fest, and shattered a number of batting records in doing so.

Remarkably, the 33-year-old also levelled up with regular Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Australian hard-hitting radical Glenn Maxwell for a huge T20I world record.

Suryakumar Yadav, who made his T20I debut back in March 2021, has already listed four centuries in the format during his two-and-a-half-year international career. His latest batting bombardment in Johannesburg marked the fourth of his T20I hundreds, to become the joint-highest century-maker in the format’s rich history.

The right-hander levelled up with previous record holders Rohit Sharma and Glenn Maxwell, who also have four centuries each in their T20I batting profile.

Furthermore, Suryakumar Yadav belted eight sixes in the innings to become India’s second-highest leading six-hitter in all T20Is. He soared past Virat Kohli’s tally of 117 maximums, and is currently sitting on a rich pile of 123 sixes to his name. As of now, the stand-in Indian skipper is only trailing behind senior teammate and regular captain Rohit Sharma (182 sixes).

Earlier this week, the Mumbai-based batting barbarian became the second-joint fastest batter in the world to complete 2,000 T20I runs, achieving the feat in 56 innings to equal with Virat Kohli.
