Experienced all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja missed out on a well-deserved century as he was dismissed for 86 runs on day two of the ongoing Test match between India and Bangladesh at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Bangladesh's premier fast bowler Taskin Ahmed emerged as his nemesis, getting his prized scalp and drawing the first blood of the day for his side.

The incident occurred during the 83rd over of India's first innings when Bangladesh desperately needed someone to break the seventh wicket stand between Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. Taskin turned out to be the saviour for the visitors, dismissing Jadeja and getting off the mark in the wickets column.

From over the wicket, Taskin bowled a back-of-the-length delivery that moved slightly away from Jadeja after pitching around the middle stump. As the southpaw tried to get on top of the bounce and nudge it through the off side, he only managed an outside edge straight to the wick-keeper.

Litton Das made no mistake behind the stumps, taking a simple catch to send Jadeja packing. Thus, the left-handed batter missed a Test ton, making his way back to the dugout with sheer disappointment.

How Did Jadeja And Ashwin Bail India Out Of Trouble?

After being put into bat first, India had a disastrous start to their innings, losing the valuable wickets of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli in quick succession. Hasan Mahmud was the wrecker-in-chief with the ball for Bangladesh, dismissing Rishabh Pant as his fourth victim.

However, Jadeja formed a whopping 199-run stand with Ashwin to bail India out of trouble. The duo's valiant effort powered India to a commendable first innings total. As of writing, India were 359 for seven in 86.5 overs, with Ashwin and Akash Deep batting on 108* and 13*, respectively.
