After facing off in the T20I series, England took on Australia in the first of the five-match ODI series at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. The hosts won the toss and batted first.

Fuelled by a solid start by Ben Duckett (95 off 91) and some effective contributions by Will Jacks (62 off 56), Harry Brook (39 off 31), and Jacob Bethell (35 off 34), England managed to post a total of 315 runs before being bundled out in the final over of the innings.

A Convincing Chase

The task ahead was challenging for Australia, and losing Mitchell Marsh early made the total look bigger. However, Travis Head emerged Australia's saviour with an astonishing knock of 154 runs from 129 deliveries. Marnus Labuschagne aided him, scoring 77 runs off 61 deliveries. The duo guided the visitors to a convincing win in the end, as they achieved the target in 44 overs, losing six wickets.

This is not a one-off knock for Head; infact, he has now made it a habit of performing under pressure for Australia and coming up with match-winning knocks.
