Ravindra Jadeja never fails to energize the pitch whenever he steps on it. Known for his ability to shift momentum and turn the tide in his team's favour, Jadeja showcased his prowess once again against Bangladesh on Day 1 of the ongoing first Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

In a spectacular display of batting, Jadeja took on Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud and delivered a monstrous six, leaving the audience in awe.

India’s innings had been stumbling under the pressure of Mahmud’s lethal pace attack, which saw the dismissal of top-order batters. Mahmud, having scalped four wickets, was proving to be a formidable force. As he prepared to bowl the 50th over, India’s hopes seemed to be dwindling. However, Jadeja, with his characteristic grit, changed the narrative.

Mahmud bent his back and delivered a short-pitched ball at 133.8 kmph aimed at the stumps. Ravindra Jadeja, quick to transfer his weight to the back foot, executed a powerful pickup pull shot

The ball soared over the deep backward square leg and landed in the stands. It was a breathtaking moment that not only lifted the team’s spirits but also tilted the match’s momentum back in India’s favor.

Bangladesh Started Off Nicely Against India

Bangladesh had started strong, with Mahmud wreaking havoc on India’s top order. After winning the toss and choosing to bowl, the visitors had India reeling at 34/3 within the first 10 overs. However, a resilient partnership between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant helped India recover, taking them to 88/3 at lunch.

Despite losing Pant and KL Rahul in the second session, Jadeja and Ashwin’s partnership has been vital in stabilising the innings.

At the time of writing, Jadeja is nearing his fifty, and India are at 255/6, clawing their way back into the match.
