Bilaspur Bulls captain Shashank Singh bowled his team to a remarkable victory over Surguja Tigers in match number six of the 2024 Chhattisgarh Premier League (CPL). Defending 193 runs for a win, the right-arm pacer collected match-winning figures of 5-24 from his four overs in a high-scoring thriller.

For leading his side from the front, the 32-year-old was fittingly adjudged as ‘Player of the Match’ for his efforts.

As it turned out, the dashing all-rounder demonstrated unprecedented sportsmanship at the presentation ceremony by sharing his award with teammate Prateek Yadav, who cracked an unbeaten 15-ball 45 in the game.

Batting first, Bilaspur Bulls charted a humongous 193-7 largely owing to Prateek Yadav’s sizzling cameo of 45* from 15 balls at the death overs. In the second half of the match, Bulls skipper Shashank Singh led his team’s fightback against a charged-up Surguja Tigers batting line-up by chipping in with five wickets.

Shashank’s figures of 5-24 helped Bilaspur Bulls seal a clutch nine-run win in a high-scoring thriller, and the winning captain was fittingly declared as the ‘Player of the Match’.

Interestingly, the cricketer acknowledged teammate Prateek Yadav’s efforts in the presentation ceremony by sharing his award with the lower-order batter.

Shashank Singh recently enjoyed a prolific IPL 2024 season with the Punjab Kings franchise. The 32-year-old scored 354 runs in 14 matches as a middle-order batter, and maintained a staggering strike-rate of 164.65 while doing so.

The uncapped Indian cricketer unfurled a number of match-winning knocks in the tournament, including the 28-ball 68* he pounded against KKR in a world record chase of 262 on April 26.
