There were huge expectations around Shreyas Iyer, keeping in mind that the stylish batsman was removed from the BCCI’s central contract list.

However, all he brought to his ardent fans were disappointment, courtesy of a sensational catch from Pat Cummins on Saturday evening at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

Coming to bat at No. 4, Shreyas went for a quick single off his first ball of the day. However, Phil Salt sent him back after watching quick movements from SRH fielders. Then, on the following delivery, Shreyas went for a drive over mid-off.

Cummins, on his first outing as SRH’s captain, stretched his arms as much as he could to complete an exceptional catch. At the same time, the crowd across the stadium went silent to see their favourite captain go for a two-ball duck.

While Shreyas was upset for making little impact with the bat, Cummins was delighted after getting the big man off T Natarajan.
