Asif Ali, who was once designated as Pakistan's finisher in T20Is, produced some audacious hitting on Thursday (July 31) in Global T20 Canada 2024 while representing Vancouver Knights against Brampton Wolves in Brampton.

The 32-year-old smashed three sixes and two fours in a brisk 17-ball 36 not out to help his side reach 149/4 batting first.

Asif's carnage was particularly against Andrew Tye, whom he smashed a four, a six, and then again a four on three successive deliveries during the 20th over of Vancouver Knights' innings.

However, Asif's cameo went in vain, as Brampton Wolves saw off the target in 18.1 overs with six wickets in hand. Beau Webster and Nick Hobson were the architects of their victory, smashing 49* and 37* respectively.

For the Knights, Mohammad Amir, who shone with the ball in the first two outings in the competition, failed to leave his mark this time around. The Pakistan pacer conceded 24 runs off his 3.1 overs without taking a wicket, leaving his side in danger in an all-important clash.
