Kavya Maran, the owner of Sunrisers Hyderabad, the finalists of the 2024 IPL has come up with some interesting suggestions in the BCCI's IPL franchise meet on Wednesday, 31st of July.

She recommended minimum of seven players to be retained while also suggesting that there should be no limit on the category of those players which means as many as seven overseas or Indian or uncapped players should be allowed to retained.

She also added that there franchises should be allowed to discuss with a particular player whether he wants to be retained before the auction or via RTM card in auction, as the later option will help a player get his due price and will help franchises retain quality players from their squad.

Mega Auction Every Five Years

Kavya Maran also stated that mega-auction should be held in every five years and the 2025 auction should just be a mini-auction.

The SRH camp has also recommended that franchises should be allowed to negotiate the retention amount with the players instead of ranking them in fixed slabs, as it will help both franchises build their team combination better, and bring more transparency into the system.
