Bangladesh's veteran cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim showcased his extraordinary keeping skills on Wednesday, as he took a magnificent catch during the first ODI against Sri Lanka in Chattogram. Rahim's valiant effort led to Sadeera Samarawickrama's dismissal off Tanzim Hasan, who had already got two more wickets. 

The incident occurred in the 13th over of the Lankan innings when Sakib came to bowl his fourth consecutive over of the game. 

The right-arm pacer was in rhythm, having already dismissed Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando earlier. He bowled a short of good length delivery, which straightened after pitching to induce an outside edge off Samarawickrama's bat. 

While attempting for a drive, the stylish Lankan batter edged it, with the ball flying towards the first slip. 

However, Rahim, keeping the wickets for Bangladesh, dived towards his right and held on to a spectacular catch. Samarawickrama's wicket held significant importance for Bangladesh, as he has been in scintillating form of late. 

Regarding the game, Sri Lanka got off to a flying start, courtesy of the fireworks from Nissanka and Fernando in the powerplay. However, Sakib's sensational spell triggered a batting collapse for the Lankan Lions, leaving them tottering at 84 for three in 13.1 overs. As of writing, the visitors are placed at 187 for four, with Kusal Mendis and Janith Liyanage steading the ship.
