The left-handed opened the innings, and though the target was not a big one, CSK lost wickets in the middle overs. Rachin Ravindra though stood tall and the equation came down to CSK needing four off the final over with MS Dhoni at the crease with the Kiwi.
Everyone expected that MS Dhoni will get a chance to hit a winning shot once again, but Rachin Ravindra denied that nostalgic feeling and hit the six into the stands on the first ball against Mitchell Santner. It was quite a shot and it came as mixed result for CSK fans who loved the win but would have wanted MS Dhoni to finish it.
Nevertheless, CSK started off the season with a win, and MS Dhoni too was quite happy with it. However, he had some advice for Rachin Ravindra just after he hit that winning shot, and his wealth of experience is surely going to help Rachin Ravindra in his career.
Mumbai Indians have yet again started their IPL season with a loss, and it is the trend that has been following them since the 2013 season between which they have won five trophies.
