MS Dhoni has been the face of the Chennai Super Kings since the inception of the tournament. The man, the myth, the legend commands unreal fan following throughout the nation. The craze for the man was evident once more when he walked out to bat against MI in the match.
Ruturaj Gaikwad Set Up The Chase For CSK
Notably, Mumbai Indians were put to bat first after Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss. Despite a weak start to their innings, MI made a brilliant comeback towards the end of the innings. Deepak Chahar played a handy cameo towards the end and helped MI post 155/9 runs at the end of their 20 overs.
Chennai Super Kings lost Rahul Tripathi early, but captain Ruturaj Gaikwad played a brilliant hand and set up the chase for the team. But Mumbai Indians showed their character and crawled their back into the game with wickets at crucial stages.
MS Dhoni Walks Out To The Cheer Of The Crowd
The match boiled down to a stage, where CSK needed four runs off eight deliveries. It was at this stage that MS Dhoni walked out into the middle after the departure of Ravindra Jadeja. The crowd at the MA Chidambaram Stadium broke into a loud cheere as their beloved 'Thala' took guard.
However, much against the anticipation of the fans, Dhoni defended the two balls to end the over. Rachin Ravindra finished off the game in the next over with maximum and the fire works expected from Dhoni were not to be seen.
