The ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 has seen some extraordinary batting thus far, and the encounter between Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars was no different.

Pakistan's ace wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan, who captains Sultans, produced a match-winning knock for his side, where the defending champions Qalandars suffered their third successive loss.

Chasing 167, Rizwan as always played the sheet anchor role, and ensured that Sultans were never behind the eight-ball, slamming an excellent 59-ball 82, which included nine fours and three sixes.

Out of the three sixes, one six came off against South Africa's George Linde, who playing for Lahore, bowled a tight spell. Rizwan, took charge in the 12th over, where the batter slapped a tossed-up delivery from Linde for a huge six over the deep midwicket region.

Rizwan got dismissed after scoring 82 off Zaman Khan, post which Iftikhar Ahmed unleashed his brute self, and played a cameo of 34 runs off 11 balls, which included five fours and two sixes, helping Sultans get past the finish line.

Interestingly, Rizwan is the fourth highest run-getter in the ninth edition of PSL, with 136 runs from three matches, only behind Reeza Hendricks, Rassie van der Dussen, and Babar Azam.

One-time PSL winners Sultans occupy the first spot in the ongoing PSL 2024 points table with three wins out of three. Two-time champions Qalandars are in the bottom-half of the table on fifth position, with zero wins from three matches.
