[Watch] Mohammad Rizwan 'Trapped' As Shadab Khan Does The Job With Perfect Googly

Shadab Khan struck off his very first ball of the PSL 2024 encounter against the Multan Sultans on Tuesday (February 20). The Islamabad United captain and spin allrounder dismissed his Sultans counterpart and experienced Pakistan teammate Mohammad Rizwan with a terrific googly.

Coming into bowl for the 11th over of the Sultans' run-chase in Multan, the experienced wristspinner caught Rizwan by surprise by sending a googly first up. Bowled at a lowish trajectory, the delivery had Rizwan in two minds about whether to play on the back foot or the front foot.

Rizwan shuffled back inside his crease to give himself an extra bit of time against the delivery. However, Shadab generated a great skid on the ball for it to jam onto the right-hander's back pad before the Sultans' captain could get his bat down in time.

Perhaps Rizwan's only error was to attempt a flick towards the on-side, which allowed the delivery from Shadab to skid through when a straightish willow may have helped the wicketkeeper-batter survive.

It was one of the best deliveries Shadab has bowled upon comeback to competitive colours with PSL after undergoing a prolonged injury-forced absence after playing the ICC World Cup 2023 in India.

The limited-overs specialist missed the T20I series in New Zealand in January due to an ankle injury, which he picked up while playing a domestic National T20 Cup game in Karachi in early December.

Despite Shadab's moment of brilliance against Rizwan, he ended with disappointing figures of 1/35 off his 4 overs as United failed to protect their insignificant score of 144 all out. Shadab would be hoping to revive his team's fortunes in the next league encounter scheduled for Thursday (February 22) versus the Quetta Gladiators.
