Moeen Ali's Birmingham Phoenix started the game on the front-foot against the London Spirit, but were quickly pushed on the back-foot during the run-chase.

The team from Birmingham in the ongoing The Hundred contest needed 128 to seal the victory, but disaster struck when openers were dismissed inside the first 8 runs. More tragedy struck when Liam Livingstone was unfortunately run-out at the non strikers end for 4.

However, trouble came calling when skipper Moeen Ali played a rash shot and threw his wicket away. Daniel Worrall deliberately bowled a fuller length ball outside the off and Moeen went flashing at the delivery and got an outside-edge. The ball was safely taken by the keeper as things turned from bad to worse for the Phoenix.

The trap was deliberately set to get him dismissed and Moeen fell into it as he played a loose shot.

Talking about the contest, London Spirit were restricted to a below-par total by the Phoenix bowlers. Sean Abbott was the pick of the bowlers as he grabbed 4 wickets for just 14 runs. 

The Moeen Ali led Birmingham Phoenix are sixth in the points table, while their opponents, the London Spirit are just a position above them at the fifth place.
