For the 13th matchup of the Big Bash League 2023-24 season, Hobart Hurricane locked horns with Melbourne Renegades. The latter batted first and posted a mighty score of 183 runs on board.

While the score seemed above par, the Hurricanes' opener, Matthew Wade, led the charge. He attacked Melbourne bowlers from ball one to put the Renegades on the backfoot early on.

Moreover, in a thrilling display of power-hitting, Wade etched his name into the highlight reels by smashing a mighty six against Will Sutherland of Renegades.

Post powerplay, Sutherland was charged to put a stop to Wade's carnage. However, the pacer failed to accomplish the challenge as he got hit for a mighty six in the seventh over of the chase.

A much fuller-length delivery was picked up by Wade, and he hit it hard across the line to smash it out of the park. The Australian was assured enough of his shot and didn't even bother to look where the ball actually landed. Wade's heroics were celebrated not only by his teammates but also by fans who appreciated the spectacle of a well-timed and well-placed six.

That gigantic shot filled the opener with confidence as he went on to build a 150+ run partnership with Macalister Wright. Wade's 82 runs off 50 deliveries helped the Hurricanes seal a thrilling victory over the Renegades, who were denied their first win of the season.

On the flip side, Hobart Hurricanes opened up its win tally with this game. It was much needed for the players to get back to grove. The season is still in its early stages, and it's important for the Hurricanes to steal as many points as possible.

Next up, Hobart Hurricanes will square off with Melbourne Stars on the 28th of December 2023 at the Bellerive Oval stadium in Hobart.
