Evin Lewis and Kyle Mayers are having the time of their life in the fifth match of the CPL 2024 at the Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts. The duo have destroyed the bowlers of the St. Lucia Kings after the Patriots were asked to bat first on losing the toss.

The Patriots lost their skipper Andre Fletcher early in the innings, which meant that Kyle Mayers joined Lewis in the middle. The duo struggled a bit at the beginning to get the timing right but as they spent more time in the middle they started to the toll on the bowlers.

Both Evin Lewis and Kyle Mayers brought down carnage on the bowlers of the St. Lucia Kings and put together a destructive partnership. Lewis was particularly severe on the bowlers. At the other end, Kyle Mayers, also joined in the party soon.

Mayers hit a six to the roof of the stadium to reach his 50

Mayers went past his fifty in the 14th over of the innings with a massive six. It was Roston Chase who was bowling this over. On the first ball of the over, Chase tossed up the ball around the off stump. Mayers spotted the ball early and got underneath the length to pump it away straight down the ground for a massive hit. With the shot Mayers reached his fifty off just 37 deliveries.

Lewis and Mayers break CPL record

Mayers started to get more severe after his fifty. With Lewis continuing his onslaught from the other end, the duo brought down the record for the highest partnership in CPL history. At the time of writing, they have stitched together a partnership of 196* runs off just 100 deliveries. Lewis and Mayers have broken the record of Walton and Chris Gayle, who had stitched together 162 in 2019 edition of the CPL.

The Patriots are currently stationed at 198/1 from 18.5 overs as rain has interrupted the proceedings in Warner Park.
