Shubman Gill on Friday (September 22) had the chance to compete at his very own home ground, the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. The 24-year-old did not disappoint, getting India off to a perfect start against Australia after coming to chase a challenging 277.

The swing by Gill against Marcus Stoinis early in the innings was particularly noteworthy. The Australian all-rounder pitched at length onto Gill's body, and the latter quickly picked it up before launching it into the night sky.

The ball made a great sound as soon as it left the bat and easily sailed over deep square leg for a maximum six.

Riding on Gill's aggresive start, ably supported by Ruturaj Gaikwad, the Men in Blue raced to 68/0 in 11.3 overs. The hosts are in total control in pursuit of a 277-run chase on a track which seemed a paradise for the batters.

Earlier in the innings, Australia finished their innings on 276 after stand-in captain KL Rahul asked them to bat. David Warner top-scored with a fine fifty, but others failed to make a substantial knock to complement him even more.
