Vidarbha spin twins Harsh Dubey and Aditya Sarwate spun a web against Karnataka batters to bundle them out for 243 runs in the second innings and clinch victory by 127 runs in the 1st Quarter-Final of the Ranji Trophy 2023-24 at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground, Nagpur on Tuesday.

Chasing a target of 371 runs, Karnataka made a strong start with openers Ravikumar Samarth (40) and captain Mayank Agarwal (70) stitching together a partnership of 101 runs for the first wicket. However, Sarwate dismissed the openers in quick succession to help Vidarbha claw back into the game.

Incoming batter Aneesh KV (40) displayed his resilience with a good start but he was sent packing after being run out by Yash Rathod. Following his dismissal, Sarwate and Dubey ran through the middle and lower order with tailenders Vijaykumar Vyshak (34) and Vidhwath Kaverappa (25) holding the fort for Karnataka. But Dubey, once again, showed his brilliance to remove the duo and guide his side to an emphatic victory in the competition.

Earlier, put into bat, Atharva Taide (109), Yash Rathod (93), and Karun Nair (90) guided Vidarbha to a big total of 460 runs. In response, Karnataka were bundled out for 286 runs with Sarwate and Thakur picking up three wickets each in the first innings.

Later, in the second innings, medium pacer Vidhwath Kaverappa returned figures of 6/61 to dismantle Vidharbha for 196 runs. But their first innings lead proved good enough to seal victory and clinch the match.
