Namibia’s middle order batsman Jan Nicole Loftie-Eaton has recently created history as he became the fastest man to score a century in T20I cricket. Namibia met Nepal for the first T20 match of Nepal’s T20 Tri-Series 2024 at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Nepal.

The game began with Namibia winning the toss and choosing to bat first. Nepal got a hold of the game as they dismissed the Namibian top-order batsmen Michael van Lingen and Malan Kruger at scores of 20 and 59, respectively. In the 11th over, Jan Nicole Loftie-Eaton walked the field as Rohit Paudel dismissed Jan Frylinck at 5.

Jan Nicole Loftie-Eaton brutally thrashed Nepal’s bowling attack as he smashed the fastest T20I century in 33 balls. Eaton smashed 101 runs off 36 balls with a gigantic strike rate of 280.56.

He kept the ball flying in the air as he hit 11 forces and eight gigantic sixes across the park. The attacking player’s century celebrations were foiled as he was dismissed by Abinash Bohara at 101, as he got caught by Gulsan Jha.

Namibia scored 206 runs at the loss of four wickets at the end of 20 overs. It seemed like Jan Nicole Loftie-Eaton’s short campaign against Nepal didn’t end with just batting, as he took two wickets in the game as Nepal looked to chase the high target.

Eaton first dismissed the team’s top-order batsman and skipper Rohit Paudel at a score of 42. Followed by Sundara Jora at a score of 5. The batting all-rounder concluded his spell with the figures 3-0-29-2.

The record for scoring the fastest T20 century was previously held by a Nepalese cricketer, Kushal Malla. Malla thrashed the brutal ton in 34 balls against Mongolia in Hangzhou during the Asian Games 2023, as the tournament was hosted by China.

Nepal’s T20 Tri-Series 2024 series comprises Nepal, Namibia, and the Netherlands, who will clash for a 6-match mini-series followed by a final match of the top 2 winners.
