In a gripping encounter between Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators, the match took an early turn as the Kings found themselves under pressure after captain Shan Masood was bowled with a majestic turning delivery from the opposing bowler, Akeal Hosein.

Karachi Kings stepped out for their second game in two days to lock horns with Quetta Gladiators at the former's home turf, the National Stadium in Karachi.

Quetta won the toss and followed the PSL 2024 season tradition of bowling first. Interestingly, Gladiators captain Rilee Rossouw opened the innings with spinner Akela Hosein in an unusual tactic. However, Hosein delivered to the captain's trust and provided an early yet major breakthrough in the powerplay.

The surface had some help for the spinners, and Akeal optimized the assistance to deceive Karachi Kings captain Shan Masood from all ends.

The spinner bowled a full-length delivery on the middle stump line. While Masood made room to play a drive to the off-side, the ball drifted away after pitching, which left Shan helpless.

He was completely beaten as the ball crashed into his off-stump, thus marking an end to his 3-ball stay at the crease, resulting in an early setback for Karachi Kings.

Meanwhile, Akeal Hosein was elated with his majestic delivery and went on a celebratory run with his Quetta Gladiators teammates.

On the flip side, it was another humiliating failure of Karachi skipper Shan Masood, but this time, in front of the home crowd.

That being said, Shan Masood has been nothing but average this year with the bat. While his tactical skills are unmatched, he needs to explode at the top to allow his team a set platform to build the innings. 

His consistent failure would hinder the King's playoff hopes as PSL enters the second and final half of the 2024 season.
