The BCCI has recently released a list offering central contracts to the Indian cricketers for the annual season of 2023-24. The list includes annual player contracts from 1st October 2023 to 30th September 2024.

The BCCI’s annual list has taken the internet by storm as the board has taken numerous bold steps of promoting, demoting and excluding the key players from the list.

At the end of the official statement, the BCCI has recommended all the players to participate in domestic cricket tournaments while they are not on national duty representing India in international cricket.

The key players of the team, like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja, have found themselves yet again in the A+ Grade. Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel have received a tragic demotion by the board by moving to Grade B from Grade A.

Star performers KL Rahul, Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj have been promoted to the second tier of the annual player contract as they move to Grade A from Grade B. India’s secret weapon in white ball cricket, Kuldeep Yadav has also moved up to Grade B from Grade C.

Many new entries like Yashasvi Jaiswal have found their name in the list, while, prominent names like Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, Yuzvendra Chahal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Umesh Yadav and Shikhar Dhawan missed receiving annual contracts from the BCCI.

Former Players Laud Emphasis on Domestic Cricket Promotion By The BCCI

Many former cricketers like Irfan Pathan, Ravi Shastri, Aakash Chopra and VVS Laxman have hailed the BCCI for taking bold decisions to promote domestic cricket while motivating the players to work harder towards Indian cricket.

VVS Laxman dwelled that the cricketers shall prioritise domestic and red-ball cricket. Former Indian Head Coach Ravi Shastri motivated the players who have missed on the central contracts to bounce back stronger.

The BCCI has also taken an innovative step of offering fast bowling contracts to budding bowlers to boost their confidence and performance for the Indian team in the future. Veteran Caribbean cricketer Ian Bishop also lauded the BCCI for promoting the interests of fast bowlers.
