Afghanistan left-arm wrist spinner Zahir Khan recreated an iconic Kuldeep Yadav moment by cleaning up well-set Ireland batter Paul Stirling on Day 2 of their one-off Test match.

Turning up for his country at the Tolerance Oval in Abu Dhabi, Zahir knocked over half-centurion Paul Stirling as Ireland slipped to 186-6 at the brink of lunch break.

Interestingly, the manner of Stirling's dismissal was quite reminiscent of that of Babar Azam's wicket at the hands of Kuldeep Yadav during the high-profile 2019 World Cup clash between India and Pakistan.

Irish batters flogged around Afghanistan spinner Zahir Khan during his first six overs of the innings before he responded by cleaning up Paul Stirling.

Tasked to bowl the final over before lunch break, Khan tossed up the delivery only for the ball to turn back in and break through Stirling's bat and pad to strike the middle stump.

Interestingly, the remarkable moment evoked many memories of a similar mode of dismissal from the 2019 World Cup's blockbuster clash between perennial arch-rivals India and Pakistan.

On June 16, 2019, at Manchester, Indian wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav cleaned up Pakistan middle-order batter Babar Azam with a similar delivery, setting the tone for a huge Indian win.

Regardless, Paul Stirling's wicket was followed by a valiant lower-order resistance from Ireland, as they stretched their first innings total from 186-6 to 263 all out. Afghanistan tallied 155 upfront earlier in the match after they had opted to bat first.
