Jos Buttler departs [Source: OneCricket/X.com]
Jos Buttler, England's captain and in-form batter, has been a key figure in his team's batting lineup for a while now. Known for his consistency, Buttler often steps up when others fail, and in the second T20I between India and England at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, he was once again leading the charge. However, his innings was cut short at 45 runs by India’s all-rounder Axar Patel in a crucial moment of the match.
Arshdeep Singh Removes Phil Salt
Buttler came in to bat after the early dismissal of Phil Salt for just 4 runs, with Arshdeep Singh claiming the first wicket. England were in a tricky spot, and Buttler’s arrival brought hope to the team. He started confidently, showing the kind of form that’s made him one of the most dangerous T20 batters in the world. But just as he was nearing his half-century, he was dismissed by Axar Patel in the 11th over.
Axar Gets Rid Of England Captain
In what was a key moment for India, Axar Patel bowled a delivery that was slightly short on the stumps at 93.7 km/h. Buttler, trying to take the attack to Axar, rocked back and attempted to pull the ball for a boundary. Unfortunately, he didn’t get fully under it, and the ball flew off the top edge. The mistimed shot went straight to deep mid-wicket, where Tilak Varma made an easy catch.
Buttler's knock of 45 runs was important, but in the end, it wasn't enough to help his side gain full control. With the skipper gone, India will be feeling confident about their chances of turning the game in their favour.
At the time of writing, England are at 77/4 after 11 overs, with the match hanging in the balance during the drinks break.
