India won the toss and opted to bowl first in the 2nd T20I against England at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on January 25. The decision to chase reflects India’s confidence in their bowling attack and the conditions favouring bowlers early in the match.
Why Jacob Bethell Is Not Playing Today?
During the toss, Jos Buttler revealed that Jacob Bethell was unwell, which led to his exclusion from the game. In his absence, England called upon Jamie Smith, who is set to make his T20I debut. Smith, a wicketkeeper-batter, has previously represented England in 16 international matches (Tests and ODIs).
Jacob Bethell has been making waves in the cricketing world, and his unavailability comes at a time when he is gaining prominence. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru, one of the most celebrated franchises in the IPL, acquired Bethell for ₹2.60 crores during the IPL Mega Auction 2025 held in Jeddah.
