Varun Chakaravarthy is fast emerging as India's premier spinner in the shortest format with consistent performances since his comeback against Bangladesh. The spinner from Tamil Nadu fell out of favour after the T20 World Cup 2021, but has been working hard and doing well in IPL and has now started to produce impact performances at the international level too.
He was brilliant against South Africa in foreign conditions and now is proving lethal in home conditions. In the first game at Kolkata, the bowler picked three wickets and was awarded player of the match and now in the second game at Chepauk, he has removed dangerous Harry Brook.
Indian Bowlers Dominate In Chennai
On the third delivery of the seventh over, Harry Brook was outfoxed by a superb googly from Varun Chakaravarthy. The ball pitched on length, on off and came back in sharply before Harry Brook could react. The ball caught the inside edge of his blade and shattered the stumps. Harry Brook was in complete shock after the dismissal as he had not idea which way the ball was spinning.
The wicket reduced England to 59-3 in the seventh over and once again Indian bowlers are showing great discipline. Jos Buttler was fighting like he did in the first game, but Axar Patel got the better of him on the score of 45. Earlier, Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and decided to bowl first with two changes in the squad as Rinku Singh and Nitish Reddy were ruled out due to injuries.
