In the second T20I between India and England at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on January 25, Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and chose to bowl first. As for team changes, India made two forced substitutions. Rinku Singh and Nitish Kumar Reddy are out due to injuries, with Dhruv Jurel and Washington Sundar coming into the playing XI.
England also made two changes. Gus Atkinson and Jacob Bethell (who’s been unwell) make way for Jamie Smith, who’s set to make his debut, and Brydon Carse.
The Indian captain revealed the reason behind the decision, he said,
"We will look to bowl first. Looks like a good track. There was a little bit of dew the other night when we had a practice session. Looks like there is less grass here than we had in Kolkata. It is a good wicket."
England captain Jos Buttler also revealed that he wanted to bowl first,
"We would have looked to do the same, we would have bowled first but no problem. Same plan for us but will look to do better.
Both captains emphasised the fresh opportunity each game presents. Buttler added,
"Yeah they do for sure. Each game is a new opportunity and the guys are relaxed and looking forward to the game tonight."
