Mohammad Amir's wicket of Jason Roy (Source:@iltonzee/X.com)
Mohammad Amir was touted as the next big thing in world cricket when he impressed one and all as a teenager. He quickly made his name in international cricket with some stellar performances across formats. The spot-fixing scandal then hampered this progress and though he made a decent comeback, his equation with Pakistan cricket was never good and he has now retired from all formats.
The left-arm seamer is playing T20 leagues around the world though and in the ILT20, he is representing Desert Vipers. The star bowler is delivering consistently, and in the 18th match of the competition, he picked one wicket for 24 runs in his four overs. The wicket was an important one though of well-set Jason Roy.
Jason Roy Departs After Quality Fifty
The Englishman was batting well on 55, but on the fifth ball of the 17th over, Mohammad Amir produced a stunning yorker from 'round the wicket that left Jason Roy clueless. It was angled on middle and leg and as Jason Roy tried to swipe it across the line, he failed to connect and Desert Vipers got their sixth wicket.
Roy's wicket made a difference of 15-20 runs to the eventual score as Sharjah managed to get 151 in their 20 overs. Apart from Amir, the likes of Khuzaima Tanveer and David Payne also bowled well with the former bagging a four-wicket haul. Desert Vipers are at the top of the table with only one loss in six matches while Sharjah need to start winning consistently to take an upward flight on the points table.
