With Royal Challengers Bangalore Women's playoff hopes hanging by a thread, Gujarat Giants Women's Shabnam Shakil did them a favor by sabotaging UP Warriorz's top order in a 153-run chase. UP's loss is RCB-W's gain as they sit neck to neck on the points table.

After a heartbreaking one-run loss against the Delhi Capitals Women, Royal Challengers Bangalore Women's playoff hopes were reduced to the result of Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz's game. 

RCB and UP Warriorz are tied for the third playoff spot with six points each. Thus, it's perennial for UP to lose their upcoming fixture against GG-W to pave RCB's path to the next stage.

Amidst the chaos, Gujarat Giants batted first against UP-W and posted 152 runs in the first innings, courtesy of skipper Beth Mooney's lone 74* runs show. 

Having said that, in a major boost, India's emerging star Shabnam Shakil struck UP's top order by chipping in two wickets in her very first over of the innings.

Alyssa Healy failed to control a lofted shot over Shakil's fuller delivery outside the off-stump line. Healy couldn't get the elevation due to horrible timing, and the ball flew into Mannat Kashyap's safe hands at mid-off.

Shabnam Shakil had not even recovered from the massive wicket that she trapped yet another veteran superstar Chamari Athapaththu. Once again, Shakil bowled full outside the off-stump line but this time it angled away from Chamari who miscued the shot big time. Ash Gardner ran back from covers to take a stunning running catch to end Athapaththu's short stay at the crease.

With that, Shakil had rocked UP Warriorz's dependable top order out of nowhere. The teenager was jubilant to have dismissed two of the most celebrated names of world cricket.

Meanwhile, Shakil's breakthroughs must have brought a sigh of relief in the RCB-W camp as UP Warriorz was put under pressure. While RCB-W has a game left to secure a place in playoffs on merit, UP's loss is equally important to eliminate net run rate from the equation.
