Sophie Ecclestone is one of the finest bowlers in women's cricket and it is very rare to see her not delivering for her team. In the 18th match of WPL 2024, Sophie has once again stepped up for UP Warriorz and has draw first blood with a big wicket of Laura Wolvaardt. 

UP Warriorz started off with a bang and the opening stand between Mooney and Wolvaardt was threatening to take the game away from UP before Ecclestone produced a beauty to get rid of the South African skipper.

It was the fifth delivery of the 8th over and Ecclestone tossed it up around the off stump line. Laura danced down the track to power it away but the ball turned sharply and beat the outside edge of his blade. Healy collected the ball nicely and knocked over the stumps in style as Wolvaardt was way short of her crease.

It triggered a bit of collapse and from 60-0, Gujarat Giants were reduced to 120-7 with likes of Gardner and Litchfield once again failing to deliver. Mooney at the other end, is batting well but she need someone to support her, if GG want to post a healthy total on the board.
